The Kronenburgerpark is a park on the edge of the center of the Dutch city Nijmegen (German Nijmegen). The park is located near the main train station and the shopping street Lange Hezelstraat. At the point where the park borders the park path, remains of the medieval city wall and the Kruittoren (German Pulverturm) can be found.

In the park stands the stone statue of a lion donated in 1886 by the Beautification Society Nijmegen. The work is by Henri Leeuw sr. (Leeuw = german lion) and his son Henri Leeuw jr. The sculpture is now under monument protection as Rijksmonument [1]. The over two-meter-high lion consists of Savonnières on a two-meter-high pedestal. The sitting lion has opened his mouth and turned his head to the left. His tail runs forward along his left hind leg. A cartouche between his legs shows the coat of arms of the city with the double-headed eagle.

In the lower part of the park is a two-piece, separated by a bridge pond.

In the upper part of the park a small playground and a small animal park can be found. In the zoo live fallow deer and Dutch goats as well as peacocks and chickens. In addition, there are, especially in the summer, also guest animals. So in 2012 two Poitou donkeys were admired, and in 2013 a small herd of Ouessant sheep visited the zoo.

Wylermeer Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

The Wylermeer is officially just in Germany, but the water comes from the Groesbeek, among others. Sometimes the osprey is spotted and the otter also lives here. You can also see kingfishers here if you are lucky.
