It doesn't happen often, but because the controls are handled by the passing skipper, it can take a long time...get out of the boat, open the bridge, return to the boat ⛵, sail on, back to the bridge and close it...

Now there are residential units in it. The Edmar Vergouwen MAVO and sports hall 't Bon used to be on this site.

It had to be the crowning achievement of Dirk Scheringa. A large museum in Opmeer, consisting of 44 rooms, which had to accommodate approximately 1,300 works of art. It never got to that point due to the bankruptcy of DSB Bank in 2009. It was only 15 years later that the impressive building on Breestraat was given a destination with 99 rental properties.

After 13 years of vacancy, the former prestigious Scheringa Museum at Breestaat 11 in Opmeer is being transformed into a residential environment with a varied range of apartments. Scheringa Museum The construction of the Scheringa Museum for Realism came to a standstill shortly before its completion in 2009 following the bankruptcy of the DSB Bank. In April 2020, SVE Group became owner of the building. In the meantime, Dok architects and Mulderblauw architects have been working on a plan to make the museum habitable. In the new situation, the building has 121 apartments, which are intended for various target groups. The building permit has now been granted and the first construction work is being carried out. Museum Quarter The project is heading into a new future under the name 'Museum Quarter'. The building consists of three building parts that are connected to each other, as in the original museum design. These building parts have each been given their own name: Salvador House, Carel House and Charley House. The plans for the latter houses are still being worked on. The apartments in these houses will be put up for sale at a later date. Between the three houses there is a garden for meeting. On the south side there is room for (bicycle) parking and storage. There is plenty of space for greenery and water around the buildings, inspired by the West Frisian peat landscape.

In the cattle museum you can learn a lot of interesting facts about the keeping of cattle of various old breeds and other animals and sometimes get close to the animals.
