Construction began in 1851 in order to be able to mine coal near the "railroad" (construction began in 1852 in Ibbenbüren). It was not until 1857 that regular coal mining could begin due to strong water inflows. Until 1862, the mined coal was transported to Ibb by horse-drawn trams. Brought to the train station, then over the Ibb. conveyor tunnels. A little further down the road to the west there are also buildings on the so-called "horse route", since until 1923 "buddies and pit horses" arrived here on a sloping route. With the construction of the Von Oeynhausen shaft, the Von der Heydt mine, like the Beust shaft, became redundant and was closed down in 1885.
