The Landsynagoge in Roth is a former synagogue, built in 1833 to replace the old synagogue that had previously burned down. The synagogue was destroyed during the November Pogroms of 1938. In the 1990s, the synagogue was gradually renovated and today serves as a memorial to the victims of the Holocaust in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district, as a learning center for school groups, confirmation groups, and adults, and as a place for cultural encounters. You can clearly hear the water rushing from the weir along the hiking trail. Today (September 29, 2024) a boy really wanted to ride his bike over the weir to the other side. I advised him against it because of the danger, but he kept trying. At least he wasn't lying in the water with his bike when we got back.
