Old Railway Bridge over the Weil River – Lost Link of the Weil Valley Railway Not far from the Gensberg Tunnel, this bridge once spanned the Weil River and was an integral part of the Weil Valley Railway, which ran from Weilburg via Weilmünster to Grävenwiesbach. After its closure in 1988, the bridge was preserved – but unfortunately, it was not integrated into the Weil Valley Trail when it was converted into a cycle path. A connection was originally planned, but failed due to land disputes in this section. Today, the cycle path follows an alternative route – and the beautiful bridge remains a relic, visible only from a distance. A silent testament to bygone railway times – and a small disappointment for anyone who would have preferred a continuous, near-original route.
