“The Second World War was nothing but endless horror: humiliation, persecution, torture, murder, genocide. In the end, more than 60 million people in Europe were dead, six million Jews murdered, millions more left homeless, orphaned, broken, wounded, and starving,” Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier emphasized in his speech on May 8, 2025. “And yet, there was also this: hope and gratitude. (…) Today, 80 years later, we are also deeply grateful for the reconciliation, for the trust that so many countries placed in us after the war. For the reconciliation with our neighbors… For the miracle of reconciliation… We Germans cannot be grateful enough for this gift of reconciliation!” And so it is an unending task of the memorial (war memorial) standing here to keep alive in the consciousness of each new generation the memory of the horrors of war, as well as the longing for peace, the miracle of reconciliation.

There are a few 'algae' floating in the water. The steps are crooked and uneven. But the railing holds. Super refreshing. Status: June 2024

The stone cross is on the former federal road between Pressath and Grub. There are 2 legends about this stone. 1. Two brothers from the neighboring grub had a dispute over their father's property. The inheritance dispute over the farm took place in this field. 2. According to statements by older people, a duel is said to have taken place at this point a long time ago, which ended with the deaths of both duelists.
