On our cycling trip from Essen (GER) to Cambridge (GB), we stopped at this hospitable PUB and were allowed to charge the batteries of our e-bikes both on the way there and on the way back. We also had a delicious piece of cake and a strengthening coffee. A very friendly PLACE!

Good pub for a stop. Very good food bit pricey but worth it. Very large garden and loads of bike space. Good range of beers and toilets clean. We liked it so much we have been back twice for dinner after the ride.

This Norman castle dates from the second half of the 11th century. The keep is mostly intact and it's the largest example of its kind anywhere in Europe, built on the foundations of the Roman Temple of Claudius.
