The “Haibacher High Cross” was erected in 1844. At that time it was still far outside the town. Several sources explain why the more than 3 meter high sandstone cross was built at that time. In one source (Aschaffenburger Zeitung from April 23, 1912) the Aschaffenburg master paver and farmer Adam Kipp (1789-1851) is named as the builder: “Adam Kipp, a man with an energetic sense of beautification, had the cross re-erected, according to the year 1844 on it.” In 1839, with the support of the city council, Kipp also built a vineyard house in the style of a castle ruin, the “Kippenburg”.
