Very nice place for a guided hike.

About the closest to a via ferrata you will find in Ireland. Slightly adventurous path for those not used to it at all, but from a sportive perspective rather boring for mountaineers. The landscape and views are great though and still worth it. Downside is that you need to go for a guided tour here.

Islandmagee is steeped in history and features rolling hills, quiet villages and a dramatic coastline. Its great cycling, for such a small wee Island it packs a punch, with vistas at every turn. You can walk the spectacular limestone cliffs of the Gobbins or stroll along the sandy beach at Brown’s Bay. Spot seals and seabirds by the harbour of Portmuck. And take in the views across the Irish Sea at Skernaghan, Islandmagee’s northernmost point.

Carved from the rock. Steeped in history. Teeming with wildlife. The Gobbins Cliff Path in a unique and dreamlike experience, its primal beauty tamed by Edwardian engineering. Step through a portal in the rock and onto a pathway over the sea. Peer into the ever-changing waters of the North Passage from the railings of a tubular bridge. Venture between outcrops and across the mouths of yawning caves.

An absolute highlight is the visit to the "Gibbons Cliffpath" (only possible with prior registration)

The guides open and close the entrance with a thick steel chain. You can't get in here without a guide. Visitor groups are strictly limited to 15 people per tour.

Yes, the region offers several options suitable for families. For a shorter, accessible walk, consider the North Carn Forest loop from Straid. It's a gentle 4.6 km trail through woodland that's great for beginners and younger walkers.
Many trails in the wider region are suitable for walking with a dog, but it's important to check local rules. For example, Rea's Wood is a popular spot for dog walkers, but you must take all waste with you as there are no bins. Always keep your dog on a lead, especially in areas with livestock or protected wildlife like the Sperrin Mountains.
The area has some excellent circular routes that bring you back to your starting point. For a moderately challenging coastal loop, the Blackhead Lighthouse loop from Ballycarry is a fantastic choice, offering great sea views over its 11.9 km distance. The An Creagán Forest & River Trail is another well-regarded 5.5 km circular walk through bog and forest landscapes.
