It's doable, both up and down. A head for heights, sure footing, and a few climbing basics would be helpful. I've seen hikers crying and terrified here...

I did the loop in June 2025. It's generally a nice tour, but I highly recommend doing the large southern loop up to the church, including the single trail, in the opposite direction, so you go up the paved road and down the steep motocross section. Strangely enough, the original track above includes an additional loop where you also have to go up the single trail with a few short pushing sections and then return on a well-maintained forest road (not steep). Definitely do it in the opposite direction; then everything is rideable. By the way, I've also reported this to Komoot support. They might change the direction. I recommend doing the loop from Calvi to the church counterclockwise and the short loop at the top of the church clockwise. Have fun on this fantastic and varied loop.

June 14, 2025, Refuge de l'Ercu

Spent three hours cleaning the mess yesterday (I'm from the heart of Vienna and in need of harmony). There are now two 1-square-meter big bags of trash outside. Only a helicopter can take them out, and that's obviously what was intended. Now it's your turn. Please do something!

bring water, sunglasses and have the sun exposure under control (sun cream or long sleeves, something for the head and neck). the segment between the lakes is on rocks/boulders and can be quite demanding make sure you have mountain shoes, not some shitty city snickers :)

Probably only open in summer, when we were there in May everything was locked!
