The 116 acres of the Blue Lagoon was a former brick work site once but now has been totally renovated by Milton Keynes local authority. Today it is simply a little urban jungle full of wildlife. Here you might see badgers , bats  grass snakes, great crested newts , butterflies, damselflies and dragonflies .

In 1805 the Grand Unicon canal from London to Braunston opened, passing through Fenny Stratford. To overcome a local problem during construction a temporary lock was installed here at Fenny Stratford and still remains to this day. There is a pub here namely the Red Lion public house and the lock keeper's house still stands and adds a tad of historic ambience to the place.

The Grand Union canal runs from Birmingham to London, a distance of 137 miles long and has 166 locks. The canal was built at the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th centuries, providing a more direct route between the two cities. It is a wonderful location to walk or run and is a haven for wildlife.

Take a beautiful journey by water on the Grand Union Canal. Built over 200 years ago the canal was originally created to provide a transport link between London and Birmingham. Today the canal offers a serene option for those who want to travel by water to explore in and around Milton Keynes and to those who want to run and walk alongside it.

Fenny Stratford Lock was initially built to aid construction of the canal. It stuck around because it was deemed too costly to remove. It's a pretty location featuring a pub, The Red Lion, and a former lockkeeper's cottage.

Great little coffee shop with a wide selection of food and drink to fill up on - the cakes are especially good. Sunday mornings can be a little busier than normal but otherwise it's great for 15 minute recharge then back on saddle.
