From the hiking trail – which is also where the alpine version of the European long-distance hiking trail E4 runs – you have a fantastic view of the mighty Rote Wand.

In the upper half there are some very rooty passages and a drop.

Nice short hike, unfortunately a few puddles after the heavy rain, so wear waterproof shoes.

Can you only get up there by train or is there also an uphill option?

The single trail winds its way from the Wurzeralm at an altitude of 1,400 meters down into the valley over a length of 4.5 meters. The trail takes you over medium-difficult terrain, difficulty level red. The route of the trail was a joint effort: the landowners, representatives of the land protection agency and the Federal Forests worked it out. And so you can expect a lot of riding fun. Please stick to the designated trail, riding on the forest roads is not permitted.

Even if the lake is not on the direct circular route - the detour is worth it and is highly recommended! A really cozy place that exudes a very special sense of calm even when there are several visitors. Perfect to pause for a moment!
