Darren Weekes
April 11, 2026, Flinty and Chalky Descent in Kent Downs National Landscape

Really fantastic single track and gravel bridleway descending north east towards Shoreham. Starts off wooded and opens up to much wider tracks later on.

From this point within the woodlands above Chevering House you get a wonderful view all the way down the valley into the sublime Kent Downs countryside. You can't see the house and grounds from here, but you can understand why they were built in this picture perfect spot.

A brilliantly placed bench, perfect for a rest as you take in the North Downs views. Lees Wood is behind you and Minny Wood below. The North Downs Way long distance trail passes here.

If walking the NDW & you want to get out of the elements for a bit then this little hide away perfect ,we only found this by per chance its about 10-15m off the NDW Quite well hidden with the tress , We found this in Jan 24 & it still had a roof & a stone floor & even window ledges which we used to make our tea & coffee, if Building not maintained then reckon within 2 years roof will fall in & will be unusable, we plan to go back in Summer 24 to see how the building is holding up
