Tips from the Community

Martin
May 31, 2026, Singletrack to the Ford in Peak District National Park

Lots of loose boulders on this singletrack. Very overgrown in May. Watch out for walkers.

Easy enough up or down singletrack, not particularly technical. Gets overgrown from May. Watch out for walkers on descent as its bendy and difficult to stop since all the loose gravel has been added.

A shallow gradient downhill with man made rollers, mix of surfaces but patches of big size loose gravel. Reasonable fun in the dry, but turns into a stream bed after rain. Be careful of walkers.

Great railway trail.

Bridge now totally bare with clean and shiny railings. The "lock-sized" wire rope has been replaced by larger diameter stainless tubing (too large to attach locks)

Coombs Dale, long gravel climb out of Calver Sough/Stoney Middleton up to the Longstone Quarries. Starts off smooth but gets rougher towards the top with some ruts/rain damage along the way.

The locks have been relocated, but it’s still a beautiful spot!

Woah, this section of the trail has been resurfaced! Lush! Watch out for the cheeky drainage channels though.
