Indian cafe/shop very much present & seems worth trying. If you're into gin, there's also a distillery with bar (booking might be needed).

...many feel an eerie stillness looking out over the still water surrounded by the evergreen box trees. Legend has it that this is due to the fate of a woodcutter's daughter who was surprised by a nobleman on a horse as she bathed in the pool. Having failed to lure her to the bank, he rode his horse into the water and caused the girl to move out to deeper water where she drowned. When the woodcutter returned and found her body, he also found the nobleman's hat floating on the water. It bore the crest of none other than Prince John! The open summit of Holmbury Hill offers beautiful panoramic views. A delightful toposcope adds to the pleasure allowing you to identify features over 20 miles away. For example, from here on a clear day it is straightforward to see the prehistoric hill fort of Chanctonbury Ring on the South Downs located 20 miles (32 km) due south. Holmbury Hill is one of the three classic Surrey hills - along with Box Hill and Leith Hill - included in the ‘Surrey Three Peaks Challenge’. This 23-mile (37 km) round trip is comparable in distance to the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge but has a third less climbing. For less energetic hikers there is also a pleasant shorter three peaks Surrey walk comprising Pitch Hill, Holmbury Hill and Leith Hill which has a round trip length of 12 miles (19 km).

The pretty Walsham Lock and Weir have a scenic setting 1 km north of the village of Ripley in Surrey. The lock has several notable features and is surrounded by tranquil and picturesque flood meadows and by Pyrford Golf Club. These attributes make it well worth a visit. Walsham is the last surviving turf-sided lock on the Wey Navigation. This means that it operates as a flood lock and has its lock gates always open unless the River Wey is in flood. If there is a flood the lock gates are closed to force water over the nearby Walsham Weir and down along the River Wey. Two further unusual features of Walsham Lock are first that it’s situated on a slight bend such that its top and bottom lock gates do not quite align with each other. Second, its adjacent pleasant lock-keeper cottage is the last remaining fully-manned lock cottage on the Wey Navigation. The original lock-keeper cottage was built in 1653 and the current one dates from 1896. The Walsham Weir and its roaring water marks where the River Wey Navigation separates from the River Wey. The two waterways do not rejoin again downstream until Weybridge. The Walsham Weir is the main Weir on the Wey Navigation downstream of Guildford. When crossing the former horse bridge over the River Wey by the Weir you should look out for the entrance to a naturalised fish and eel pass channel route. This 170 m long channel has a reduced water flow compared to the Wier so that fish and eels can make their way upstream on the River Wey.

This is the highlight of my regular 10k run and it is such a wonderful spot. I put in the work running up here and always pause my GPS watch and (my favourite time to run) take in the sunrise. The views are mesmerising and I often find myself staring out for 10 minutes or more. I then enjoy the run back down. The sandy trails make for a really enjoyable and slightly technical downhill section. There is a Lieutenant General Bernard Cyril FREYBERG, WWI Victoria Cross recipient buried in the graveyard here.
