Nonshaugvatnet is a high mountain lake nestled in one of Jørenvågsalen's cirques. It enjoys a dramatic location beneath the southeast face of Knubben. Swimming is prohibited, as the lake is used for drinking water.

The standard Fjordruta trail between Trollstua and Gullsteinvolla heads for the saddle between Jurtinden and Skarven, while an alternative heads up Jørenvågsalen and skirts the summit of Leirtinden. For confident hikers, it's worth a little detour to take in the view from the summit.

The Fjordruta provides gorgeous views across Rostolvatnet here, with the broad top of Rostolen rising above. You'll also notice the Rovangen DNT cabin, a charming place to stay while exploring the region. If you've brought your rod, you'll be pleased to know that the lake provides great fishing.

This section of the Fjordruta provides superb views of Rostolen and Pikfjellet, as well as out towards the islands of Grisvågøya and Skardsøya. It's not far from here to the top of Rostolen. Meanwhile, the DNT cabin of Rovangen is also close. It enjoys a lovely spot on Rostolvatnet.

Rovangen is a charming DNT facility on Rostolvatnet. It's a self-service cabin with a total of 24 beds across the two buildings. There's excellent fishing on the lake, while the nearby peak of Rostolen provides great sea views out towards Smøla.

Gullstein kirke is a beautiful church and a lovely foreground to Tustna and Stabblandet's peaks. It can hold up to 300 people and was built in 1869. The Fjordruta long-distance trail passes the building.
