Black Rock Gardens (often referred to locally as Black Rock Park) is a small foreshore reserve with expansive views across Port Phillip Bay, making it a lovely place to stop beside the water. There is a large playground, drinking fountain, benches, picnic tables, and open grassy spaces that make it especially popular with families, with cafés and shops conveniently just across the road. Situated right along the coastal path and above the beach, the park has an easygoing atmosphere for relaxing, enjoying the bay views or taking a break during a walk along the foreshore.

Willsmere Park sits beside the Yarra River on the edge of Yarra Bend Park, with open grassland, billabongs, remnant bushland, and shared riverside trails running through the reserve. The park forms an important wildlife corridor along the Middle Yarra and contains two of the last remaining billabongs in the lower reaches of the river floodplain. It’s also a popular off-leash area, especially around the open lawns and riverside paths linking into the wider Yarra trail network.

This bridge carries the shared path over the Yarra River alongside the M1, linking the Gardiners Creek Trail with the Capital City Trail on the opposite bank. The crossing runs parallel to the freeway, with traffic close by and the river below, giving it a more built-up feel than other sections of the trail network. It’s a narrow, enclosed span that acts as a key connection point between major routes.

The Railway Canal Reserve is a green patch, narrow and lining the Moonee Ponds Creek, breaking up the intense industrial activity in the area. There are young trees that were planted along this greenway in 2018 that will provide shade for bushwalkers and bikes in the future.
