Tips from the Community

JP
September 19, 2026, Ter Scoete Restaurant

Ter Scoete (a brasserie) has long been one of Gerhagen's catering destinations. Together with the Peerdenposterij, it was also one of the first. Ter Scoete will, however, move away from its current form and be replaced by another building that will serve as a reception pavilion and will be fully demountable. Anyone looking for another place to eat and drink in Gerhagen and its surroundings in the meantime can go to one of the facilities that have been added nearby while Ter Scoete is closed or being demolished. You can also ask for tips at the forest museum (if it is open). The new pavilion will also have a catering function and must provide space for guides and park rangers. It should be ready by 2027. More about the future of the place where you find Ter Scoete today at https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2026/02/10/nieuw-onthaalpaviljoen-voor-natuurgebied-gergaven-in-tessenderlo/

With ample bicycle parking and a cozy, partly covered terrace – complete with a playground – this is an ideal spot to catch your breath. Beer lovers will get their money's worth here. There are no fewer than 10 beers on tap and the beer menu boasts over 120 to 150 different bottled beers. Choice overload guaranteed! 🍺 There is also plenty of choice for the hungry cyclist. From tapas, pasta, and pizza to a hearty Flemish classic like stew: the extensive menu has something for every craving. So, your leg muscles will not only get a rest but also the necessary fuel. 😉 And it's more than just a café. Thanks to the well-known Buurtshows, the establishment has grown into a vibrant meeting place with regular live performances by famous singers, concerts, and dance nights. A stop where you can happily linger a little longer!
