The current town hall of De Haan is the former Grand Hotel du Coq-sur-Mer, dating from 1899, once one of the largest and most prestigious hotels on the Belgian coast. The building later became a social holiday home and has served as the town hall since 1985. The Grand Hotel du Coq-sur-Mer was built during the height of the Belle Époque period.
