The bridgehead of the Ronde van Vlaanderenbrug on the Trakelweg side is popular as a sports location. Almost daily, people exercising - with or without a personal coach - can be found here. Edward Houpline, sports coach and owner of EDE Sport and Movement, a frequent user of the location himself, submitted a proposal to give the bridgehead some color, using the urban project subsidy 'Paint your city'. For this, he collaborated with street artists LA.KUS (Koksijde) and KIEWIE.9000 (Gent). The artworks - realized in the spring of 2023 - are a nod to the Leie river and sporting activities. From the clubhouse of the marina you can walk through the woods along the water towards, away from the lock (so towards Leie). There you get a wide view over the water. The stakes are gratefully used by cormorants as places to dry their wings.

The forest path at Ooigem Castle takes you through a beautiful green landscape, where stately trees and filtered sunlight create a magical atmosphere. The path winds along lawns and vistas of the historic castle, which gives the walk a fairytale appearance.
