The sky above Eggental In 2012, the first European stargazing village was created in Eggental: since then, the villages of the municipality of Karneid have been taking visitors on an adventurous journey into space. In Gummer, there is a planetarium, an observatory, a solar observatory, and also a planet trail, which bring the sky down to earth – or symbolically, people up to the sky. In Steinegg, on the other hand, you can enjoy a heavenly stay in the specialized accommodations. Many hotel rooms feature telescopes, constellations, sky windows above the beds, and the absolute highlight is the 1:1 scale Apollo 11 lunar module – heavenly dreams are guaranteed. The all-round astronomical offer in the stargazing village is rounded off by special events. Since autumn 2022, there has been a new Way of the Stars, which connects the two stargazing villages of Gummer & Steinegg. With the mascot Luxi, it is possible here to dive into the secrets of the universe.
