The Reblehrpfad Visperterminen (Vineyard Educational Trail) provides information on several panels about viticulture in the highest vineyards on the European mainland. Along the path, visitors learn more about vine pruning, different grape varieties, the construction of traditional dry stone walls, and the labor-intensive management of steep vineyard terraces. A special focus is placed on the indigenous grape variety Heida (Savagnin Blanc), for which Visperterminen is known far beyond the region. The educational trail combines impressive views with interesting insights into the centuries-old wine culture of Valais. Interesting: The information panels are bilingual – in High German and the Walliser dialect – thus conveying not only knowledge about viticulture but also a piece of regional culture.

Watch out if you come down from the Simplon, the crosswinds may be strong! (there's a windsock at the start)

Rosswald lies on a relatively narrow ridge at 1,800 meters, high above Brig. The paved road ends in the center of the village, around which many chalets nestle. Two restaurants (Parkplatz and Adler) directly in the village and two more just outside (Fleschboden and Bortelhütte) offer stunning views of the Rhone Valley and the Bernese Alps opposite, inviting visitors to stop for a break before or after their ascent. As early as the 1950s, this sun-drenched village was made accessible by cable car. The artificial lake just above Rosswald is a popular spot, used in winter for artificial snowmaking on the ski slopes and in summer as a rest area. Several official mountain bike routes also pass through Rosswald, such as the Valais Panorama Bike (Route 81) and the Rosswald Bike Route 780.

The Saflisch Pass, at over 2,500 meters high, can be reached by bike, but it's a real challenge. From Binn, you have to climb over 1,100 meters in altitude over a distance of about 14 kilometers. The higher you go, the wilder and quieter it becomes. A fantastic crossing that demands a lot but is equally rewarding!

A beautiful climb from Grengiols to the Breithorn. A good, paved forest road. Also easily doable on gravel. A steady gradient, and in summer, plenty of shade in the forest.

I did the gravel descent from the Breithorn to Visp with 36 mm tires. It was a bit limited on the upper section; it wasn't very comfortable. From the middle of the descent, the road quality improves. It's still totally doable, but next time I'll go for 40 mm tires. We did the gravel climb from Binn via the Saftlital. Honestly magnificent, a bit steep, but nothing totally insurmountable! We stayed at the Auberge Heiligkreuz, which is highly recommended for a two-day tour to enjoy the region.
