Climbing Monte Corchia starting from Passo Croce (in the municipality of Stazzema) is one of the most scenic and exciting hikes in the Apuan Alps. The complete loop takes about 5-6 hours and covers an elevation gain of about 550-600 meters (reaching 1678 meters in altitude), and it is classified as EE (Expert Hikers) due to some exposed and steep sections. Even with a MTB it is a beautiful scenic route, you follow the dirt road under the Corchia pinnacles up to a fork. To the left, you descend towards Fociomboli, Puntato, the ghost town of Col di Favilla, then to the Gufonaglia quarry where you need to pay close attention due to the very steep and stony road. Straight ahead from the fork, you reach the Del Freo refuge. Rifugio Giuseppe Del Freo - Pietrapana is one of the main alpine landmarks of the Apuan Alps, located at 1,180 meters above sea level in the grassy basin of Foce di Mosceta.

The Walls of Lucca are one of the most famous historical monuments in Italy, known worldwide for being the only Renaissance city walls to have survived completely intact to this day. Built between 1504 and 1648 mainly to defend against the expansionist ambitions of Florence, they completely surround the historic center of the city. During the 19th century, by the will of Maria Luisa of Bourbon, the military fortification was transformed into an immense elevated public park and a charming tree-lined promenade.

This artificial lake was created by damming the Turritecava stream in the late 1930s. Its protected location makes it an excellent refuge for birds. Canyoning is possible nearby on the Rio Selvano, a tributary of the Turritecava.

The town owes its origins to the late Middle Ages settlement of a colony of blacksmiths from Bergamo, later joined by families from the surrounding area. At the time of Italian unification, the town had approximately 2,000 inhabitants, but today, due to progressive depopulation, it numbers just under 500, including the hamlets. The customs bridge, marking the border between the Duchy of Modena and the Republic of Lucca, was also located here.
