Wallfahrtskirche Mariä Himmelfahrt Stadlern is first mentioned as a parish in 1363. Probably at that time there was already a church in Stadlern, which was perhaps destroyed by the Bohemian King Ottokar II. Přemysl during an attack in 1266. It is assumed that the pilgrimage to Stadlern began in the 15th century, in any case before the Reformation. On a map from 1626, Stadlern is entered as "Städla zur Wallfahrt" and from 1629 there is a report about the pilgrimage to "Our Lady's image burned from earth". The construction of the present church is dated around 1400, with the choir, which is almost completely preserved in its original construction, with two cross-ribbed vaults on corbels, being used for this dating. Nothing has survived of the nave, which was rebuilt after its destruction by the Hussite incursions. The church nave as it appears today, with a flat ceiling and large semicircular windows, originated in the Baroque period and was only later extended to the west. The six-columned, baroque high altar encloses the miraculous image, an expressive late Gothic Madonna with the Christ child on her left arm, a scepter in her right hand. The miraculous image, created around 1500, was originally a clay figure, from which the full title of the pilgrimage "To Our Lady burned from earth" originates. Today, only the upper part of the Marian figure is in its original condition; it is presumably a fragment saved from the Calvinist iconoclasm. The original figure of the Christ child was lost; it was replaced by a baroque wooden figure. The miraculous image is flanked by the two prince apostles Peter and Paul. The two side altars with rococo columns in shell work are dated around 1770. The northern side altar shows St. Michael, standing in dramatic motion on a large dragon. The southern side altar, dedicated to St. Sebastian, is, in contrast, far less expressive. Rarely do you find such perfectly beautiful rococo carvings as on the still partially existing church pew cheeks and on the confessionals. Significant is the three-and-a-half-meter-high granite column at the southern entrance, whose shaft is entwined with grapevines; the relief top shows the suffering Savior, treading the wine press.
