Strolling through the historic center of Sarnano, one notices the strange presence of walled-up small doors, some next to the main entrances of the houses. Legend has it that when someone died, Death would come and take them away. But if the door was always open, Death could return immediately and take other family members. So, it was decided to create a door dedicated to her, which once the deceased was taken away, would be walled up so that Death could no longer return to take other loved ones.

In the 16th century there was a mill here which, exploiting the energy of the waterfall, was used by the inhabitants of Sarnano. From 1929 the old mill was replaced with a hydroelectric plant.
