The Spanish tower of Torre Vecchia, built in the 16th century with the aim of defending the village of Marceddì from pirate incursions, is now counted among the "places of the FAI heart". The Italian Environment Fund (FAI) protects and enhances Italian heritage through campaigns such as "places of the heart", a biennial census in which the public can vote for places to preserve and enhance. Projects with at least 2,500 votes can apply to the Luoghi del Cuore call. Recently, the tower underwent a restoration aimed at preserving it from degradation.

Along this white road, at this point you can enjoy a splendid view of two small lakes on the sides. The pink flamingos make the whole scene even more suggestive. Towards the west, the road seems to dive into the sea, right next to the tower in the distance. Everything is very quiet.

Here, right next to Arborea beach, there is a beautiful pine forest that offers shade in the summer heat and an extraordinary scent that mixes with the typical smells of the coast. As usual, the sea views are superb.

Winter hiking is also possible due to the generally mild conditions, though some trails might be wetter. Summers can be hot, so early morning or late afternoon hikes are recommended.

These routes often pass through pine forests or along the calm lagoon shores, offering safe and enjoyable walks for all ages.
Many trails in Arborea are dog-friendly, especially those through the pine forests and along the beaches outside of peak season. It's also advisable to check local regulations for specific areas or nature reserves.
