The courthouse at Clara-Zetkin-Straße 14 (currently the branch office) dates back to the German Empire. It is a listed brick building from 1894, erected as a district court. From 2018 to 2020, it was extensively renovated (costing approx. 2.85 million euros); the former prison now houses, among other things, the land registry office. Until 2015, there was a branch office at Neues Weg 19. The Malchin branch (since 1998) was dissolved in 2009.

At 12 m, it is the largest freestanding zinc die-casting monument in Germany. 👍 It represents important representatives of the university and is the centerpiece of the square of the same name.

Unfortunately, the historic border sign was stolen. It featured the coats of arms of Vorpommern and Mecklenburg.
