Pig iron ladle cars transport molten pig iron from blast furnaces to foundries and rolling mills. The Jünkerath Machine Factory—better known as Gewerkschaft Jünkerath—manufactured this car in 1966 for a steelworks in Bremen. In previous centuries, Jünkerath itself was home to blast furnaces. Later, the plant specialized in further processing. The car has been located at its current location since June 2025. The train station, the associated depot, and Gewerkschaft Jünkerath shaped the town during industrialization and provided up to 2,000 jobs. These are now history.
