Mittellandkanal in the Hanover region. Nice route along the canal, unfortunately the view is somewhat restricted by the grass.

Former moated castle, late medieval residential tower with Renaissance additions and extensions, stair tower, two-storey, low, rectangular office building with hipped roof In 1407 the settlement was granted town charter, in 1650, under Hessian rule, and is the smallest town in Lower Saxony. A fire in 1863 that destroyed the entire town was only survived by the town hall and the castle, which still has individual components from the Middle Ages (tower) and the 16th and 17th centuries (caryatid portal). The owner and family were immediately drawn to the charm of a 400-year-old estate building. Now, with a limited budget, a multi-generational house should be built in it, which uses the qualities of the existing building. The building on the outskirts of Sachsenhagen is characterized by two very different external references. In the west, the much-frequented entrances via a courtyard and in the east, the unobstructed view of the landscape and direct access to the garden. The aim of the design was to link these different qualities with the uses inside the building. The hallway, the heart of the house, is in a central position and serves as a distributor and meeting point in the building. From here you can reach the living area to the east, the private rooms on the upper floor and the workshop and storage rooms. There is also a connection to the barrier-free granny flat. In addition to the spatial reorganization and renovation with ecological building materials, the energetic upgrade was the focus of interest. In order to preserve the high-quality appearance of the sandstone outer walls, internal insulation was provided along with new windows and an insulated floor slab. In addition, a heating and hot water system was installed, which gains most of the heat from a solar thermal system and a fireplace. Source: https://www.ih-architekten.de/projekte/projekt_009_1

From 1663 to 1676 the church was built without a steeple. Thanks to the generous donation from Ms. Tunner-Hartmann from Hanover, the church tower could be built in 1976. The church was completely renovated in 1996/97. Source: https://www.steinhuder-meer.de/poi/elisabethkirche
