NB! You walk a lot in open areas, without shelter. Better not when it's very hot! Other than that, a nice walk!

A small natural idyll. During our visit in May everything shines in different shades of green, including the water. Ideal place for a little break.

The extensive Cistercian monastery of St. Urban is one of the most impressive cultural monuments in Switzerland. It was founded as early as 1194 and since then it has seen a lot: several times, parts of the buildings have been destroyed, rebuilt or rebuilt, sold and used in a wide variety of ways. Today, parts of the former monastery of Lucerne Psychiatry serve as a clinic, other rooms such as the magnificent ballroom are used for events. The library with the carved oak columns and the interior of the church are particularly worth seeing. You can find all information about the St. Urban Monastery at http://www.st-urban.ch/.

In the Middle Ages, Grünenberg Castle was an impressive complex with mighty walls and towers. The barons of Langenstein founded the nearby St. Urban monastery in 1194 and built up an extensive rule over time. Their descendants, the Free von Grünenberg, influenced the entire region in the 13th and 14th centuries until they sold part of their property to the city of Bern. The first excavations on the Schlossberg took place in 1949. Between 1992 and 1999 the remains of the wall were finally renovated and the important floor of the castle chapel made of St. Urban bricks was built over with a modern protective building.

small castle ruins with impressive masonry. There are also a few objects from the last art exhibition that give a good contrast.
