June 22, 2026, Faro dei Caduti della Montagna di Gaggio Montano

The Mountain Fallen Lighthouse is the only lighthouse in Italy located in the mountains; from its summit, you can enjoy the enchanting panorama. The lighthouse represents the symbol of Gaggio Montano, a charming village located in the Bolognese Apennines. The Gaggio lighthouse was designed by engineer Giuseppe Rinaldi and dates back to 1952; the structure is made of reinforced concrete and you have to climb 155 steps to reach the top. The Lighthouse was built on the Sasso di Rocca and constitutes the monument dedicated to the mountain fallen during the two world wars. The great Sasso di Rocca, on which the monument stands, is a block of ophiolite that overlooks the town and is visible from every access road: moreover, the characteristic historic center of the town develops all around.
