Easy route, but rugged in the central part because you pass through the middle of the stream bed and therefore have to climb over boulders and stones. The gorges are very narrow, so in case of falling debris from above, it's not unlikely to be hit, which is why a helmet is recommended (the park says mandatory, but there are no checks). It's advisable to bring one from home because you can't rent them in the area. The only possibility I had identified was in L'Aquila at the Salewa store, where, however, they rent the entire via ferrata kit. Essentially, the route is divided into three segments: the first part of the approach to the gorges on an easy, practically flat dirt path; the gorge section where you cross the riverbed and some sections of side path, and the last part exiting the gorges and approaching the waterfall where the path is again on dirt with very short and simple uphill and downhill sections. The path is marked, so pay attention especially during the stream bed crossings to the next marker to avoid facing unnecessary difficulties, although they are not insurmountable or particularly difficult. The route is entirely in the shade, so it can be tackled even on the hottest days, but keep in mind that the microclimate of the gorges is particularly humid. Access is permitted from May 1st to October 31st, subject to different ordinances and provisions from the Municipalities and the Park Authority. The entrance is theoretically limited, so you should book your visit here: https://www.parcosirentevelino.it/gole_celano.php When we booked, there was only one reservation, but then we met more people inside, so not everyone books.

The bivouac must be taken care of: don't leave practically useless objects behind with the excuse of leaving them for someone else to come. A gas canister with enough gas for perhaps one cigarette is best taken back down the valley. I threw away the cards last time and replaced them with new ones. The bivouac should be left "slightly" better than it was when you found it.

Is it also possible with gravel? Can October be considered as a period to do it?
