Charming wine village at the foot of the Haardt mountains with beautiful half-timbered houses. A lovely place to stop, explore the quiet streets, and sample local Palatinate wines at one of the family-run estates.

The St. Georgskirche in Rhodt unter Rietburg was originally built in 1481 in the late Gothic style. It is dedicated to the knight St. George. In 1720/1722, the old church was demolished and replaced by a significantly wider and taller building. It houses the seat of the Bavarian Queen Therese, who attended services here. Many more exciting details about the church can be found here: https://www.kuladig.de/Objektansicht/KLD-344092 The town hall between the church and the Weinstraße is also noteworthy. From the church, you can see the massive bars of the older annex (it was a prison) and the stained glass window with St. George the dragon slayer as the motif (though only from the outside). On the long side of the church facing Weyherer Straße, there is a war memorial with an inscription that may seem strange from today's perspective, but likely corresponded to the spirit of the times. On the other side of the church (to the north) stands a very old property. Many sights from history in a small space!

Beautiful little castle, which a Bavarian king, fond of the Palatinate, had built as a summer residence in the vineyards above Roth near Riedburg. Great eye-catcher and a popular photo motif.
