The Romanesque church of St. Sulpice in the canton of Vaud was built by the Abbey of Cluny in the 11th and 12th centuries. It was initially dedicated to Saint Sulpice and later to Mary Magdalene. After the occupation by Bern in 1536, the church became Protestant and came into the possession of the city of Lausanne. The priory disappeared after 1536 or was repurposed. The nave collapsed after the Reformation and was not rebuilt. The church is today a national historical monument. (Source: www.notrehistoire.ch).

A small idyll on the very edge of Lausanne: the Louis Bourget Park. It is named after a doctor, naturalist and ornithologist who, during his lifetime from 1856 to 1913, campaigned for this spot to be declared a nature reserve.

Fountain, place de la Palud – Lausanne Fountain, place de la Palud The column and statue were created in 1584-85 by Laurent Perroud of Neuchâtel and his son Jacques, the former having died before its completion. Laurent Perroud built several fountains throughout western Switzerland. He has notably depicted the judiciary in Neuchâtel, Soleure and Moudon. The fountain in Lausanne depicts the typical blindfolded young woman carrying a sword and scales. The Pope, the Emperor, the Grand Turk and a magistrate bow submissively at her feet. The ornamental central stack features a circular base with sculpted archways surmounted by a ribbed column decorated with acanthus leaves, city coats of arms and a garland held by four muffles. A capital decorated with acanthus leaves and volutes crowns the column. The stack and the column are copies created in 1930; the originals are in the Lausanne History Museum. The magnificent spouts date from 1557-59 and the twelve-sided basin was built in 1726. Reformed Church Saint-François, Lausanne The Saint-François church in Lausanne, consecrated between 1260 and 1280, is offering a series of events to celebrate its 750th anniversary from January 15, 2022 to December 2022: concerts, tours, conferences, creations, services, and times for exchange are on the program. The heritage of Saint Francis of Assisi is still very present in Lausanne. On the occasion of the 750th anniversary of the consecration of the church built by the Franciscans in Lausanne, the spirit of the «Poverello» still delights a wide audience.
