Wonderful location, easily accessible. There is hardly a point from which there isn't a good photo opportunity. There is a large capacity parking lot on site, from here we can start a walk e.g.

The tower of the children's and bird experience world is currently being converted into a climbing paradise and is largely finished as of April 2026. Views are still possible during opening hours, but there are no more birds. Instead, there are great climbing walls! For more detailed information, please contact the municipality of Rechnitz: https://www.rechnitz.at/de/

The small sacred monument we encounter on the Geschriebenstein, in the form of a summit cross, is—besides the view it offers—perhaps also the perfect place for a brief moment of reflection. A few years ago, Christiane Völkel commented on the wonderfully fitting sentence by the Italian poet Francesco Petrarch (who lived in the 14th century), "Everywhere one has heaven above oneself," as follows: "What is the use of prayer? This question moves me (...) I have found for myself the answer and the certainty that when I pray I am with the Lord, or rather, that when I pray he is often noticeably closer to me than usual. Thus, I retain the possibility of pouring out my heart to him (...) This intimacy with him makes me believe in him."

September 10, 2025, Rechnitz Bathing Lake

Burgenland's first artificial lake was built between 1962 and 1964 and is located in the tranquil and picturesque Faludital valley. It is approximately 300 m long, 100 m wide, and a maximum of 7 m deep. The bathing lake is fed by springs on the southern slope of the Geschriebenstein and boasts excellent water quality. There is a bathing lake buffet with a seating terrace on the south shore and a snack bar on the north shore. The water slide, the sun island, the diving tower (jumping heights of 3 and 5 meters), and the large swing area also offer plenty of additional entertainment. Free admission to the bathing lake with the Burgenland Card. Price without the card: €3.80 (valid for 2025). Discounts are available for families, seniors, schoolchildren, and students.
