Where beautiful heather plants usually bloom, this area is just sand, making you feel like you're in a desert landscape... a nice change.

Beautiful path along the 8,000-year-old Pietzmoor, the largest moor in the Lüneburg Heath.

Here in the Osterheide there are also many beautiful heathlands that are worth a visit at any time of year.

Anyone who has booked an overnight stay here, whether by bike or on foot, should definitely check for rest days. Unfortunately, we overlooked this and, after 75 km against the wind, had to get back on our bikes and cycle over 4 km to the nearest restaurant. This wasn't so great, especially given the unstable weather. Breakfast in the morning was excellent.
