View of the Nahe River from the direction of the bridge houses (landmark of KH). There are now restaurants and cafes on the bridge again, inviting visitors to linger and enjoy themselves (as of January 26th).

The monastery developed from a pilgrimage to the Fourteen Holy Helpers. Initially, from 1921 until the Nazi era, it was home to Trappist monks, who were later dissolved under state pressure. In the 1960s, the Missionary Benedictines of St. Ottilien acquired the buildings, as they had to bring many brothers home from politically unstable regions in Africa. The Missionary Benedictines relinquished the monastery in 2023. I enjoyed coming here for retreats. The cultural and educational center of the Diocese of Mainz still exists.
