An elevated viewpoint looking out toward the Heppenheim valley and the Rhine Plain beyond. On a clear day the views stretch far west — a great reward after the climb.

Great view of the Odenwald, the Rhine valley and the Waldnerturm. Reward for overcoming the nasty road bike ramp😅

The alleys in Birkenau's Kreuzgasse no longer look so charming. Everything seems desolate and deserted.

The Mannheim Telecommunications Tower is almost as much a landmark of Mannheim as the Water Tower. It's 125 meters tall. You can take an elevator to the top and enjoy the wonderful view of Mannheim, the surrounding area, and even as far as the Palatinate and Odenwald mountains. There's also a restaurant and bar up there. It's definitely worth a visit 😃🤩👌🏼.

Not necessarily worth a detour, but if you have to go this way, there's nothing better. A really good bike "road."
