All of Lime Kiln State Park is renowned for being a great place for watching whales from the shore, but this is one of the best lookouts.

You may have to dismount your bike to get to this overlook, but it's absolutely worth the effort. The park all around you is renowned as one of the best places in the world for whale-watching from shore, and this is one of the best lookouts.

Lime Kiln State Park is renouned as one of the world's best whale-watching shore areas and is the inspiration for The Whale Trail. Three pods of southern resident orcas, which are named the J pod, K pod, and L pod, come by every year. The best time to spot them is from May to September, and they often come very close to shore.

Lime Kiln Lighthouse was constructed in 1919 and still serves today as a navigational help for ships. The lighthouse is important for getting ships through the Haro Strait. The educational center and gift shop for the lighthouse are open for tours during the summer months.
