From the limestone spur where the tower stands, it is possible to enjoy a view of the coast that extends between Capo Mannu and Capo Nieddu. The scenery is magnificent. The exact date of construction of the Pittinuri tower is unknown, but it is mentioned in the work of Don Michele de Moncada in 1578. Therefore, it represents one of the numerous fortified works erected during the Spanish domination along the coasts of the island.

The Cabu Nieddu tower was built as a response to the incursions of Barbary vessels on the Sardinian coasts, especially in the 15th and 16th centuries. Access to the ground was blocked, and could only be entered through an upper opening via a ladder which was retracted during attacks. It is currently in a state of abandonment. However, it is a great stopping point during the trek, especially because it offers a unique panorama. From here, you can admire Punta Foghe, also guarded by an ancient watchtower.
