The legend of Charles's tower in Konin Żagański In 1596, for the celebration of Pentecost, the newly built tower - the bell tower, founded by Charles Magnus Schellendorf, was opened. Many famous and important guests came to such a great event. The tower's appearance symbolized God's strength, and its size only emphasized it. As the tallest in the town, it was supposed to be a testimony to the glory of God and no other monument could compare with it. At the beginning of the 18th century, in 1716, Arnold Bucholz, an entrepreneur from Żary, decided to lease the existing farm in Konin and rebuild it into a distillery and brewery. During the reconstruction, it turned out that the chimney in the farm did not have adequate air flow. Buchholz decided to add an extension to it. In this way, the chimney became higher than the church tower. Soon he also created a breeding pond near the farm. In pagan times, there was a spring here that was considered a holy place. However, human pride was curbed. One gloomy November day, a storm with lightning passed over Konin, striking the farm buildings again and again, starting a fire. The damage included, among others, the distillery's chimney. Legend has it that since that event, the owner of the farm became completely lost in his life and lost all his property because the distillery's products tasted terrible.

At the beginning of World War II (from August 26, 1939 to April 1940) in Konin there was a dulag (German: Durchganglager), a transit camp for prisoners of war, part of the complex of Nazi prisoner of war camps near Żagań. The area of the former camp is located approximately 2 km north-west of Konin Żagański (German: Kunau), west of the local road from Konin to Jankowa. It had various names - from Dulag Halbau/Kunau, through Dulag A and Dulag C, to Dulag VIII C. It, like the other camps, was subordinated to the 8th Military District of the Wehrmacht based in Wrocław. It was created for Polish non-commissioned officers and private soldiers taken prisoner during the defensive war of 1939. Dulag was a typical transit camp - it had no permanent facilities, and the prisoners slept in tents on the ground. At the beginning of 1940 it was liquidated and 6,000 (according to other sources - 8 thousand) his prisoners were transferred to Stalag VIII A Görlitz (Zgorzelec) and Stalag VIII C Sagan (Żagań). Artificially leveled fragments of the terrain and relics of buildings have been preserved. In May 2018, exploration work was carried out in the area of the former camp, in which members of the Lubusz Exploration Group NADODRZE participated. During the research, many items related to the stay of Polish soldiers in Konin were found, including: a corps (military badge of the personnel corps) of the Podhale riflemen, a corps of the cadet school, two dog tags (including one with the soldier's name and surname), an eagle and a half with a crown , a large amount of buttons and Polish money, a wedding ring made of scales, razors, fragments of suspenders and others. All found items were put on display at the POW Camps Museum in Żagań. In September 2018, a commemorative stone was unveiled at the forest parking lot south of the former camp.
