Tourists are drawn here like a magnet by three attractions: a viewpoint overlooking the spectacular panorama of the Oder River and its western bank, the massive stone Generation Table inscribed with the first verse of the then German national anthem (the current German national anthem is only the third stanza of "Lied der Deutschen" by August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben, set to music by Joseph Haydn), "Deutschland, Deutschland über alles," and more than a dozen commemorative stones. Since the early 1930s, erratic boulders, previously used as boundary markers, have been placed on the hill. The names of prominent German-speaking poets, musicians, politicians, theologians, and military figures have been engraved on them. With the rise of Nazism in Germany, icons of German nationalism were also commemorated: a stone dedicated to Adolf Hitler and an oak cross honoring Albert Leo Schlageter. The local lapidarium is a special testimony to the history of the park, which until 1945 lay within the borders of Germany.

Various signs, posts and road barriers. Not so long ago you could find them along the roads, today they are just history.

The church was built in the early 19th century, probably on the site of an older building, but its appearance is unknown. The first mention of the parish in Przyjezierze dates back to 1401.

And I call it the Gate with a capital letter! It resembles the gate and rampart from Biskupin, except it is bigger. Except that it is a period 2500 years ago, and right next to it stands the Monument of the Polish Victory on the Oder, referring to the events of the 10th century... slightly different eras! But either way, the gate is magnificent.

An unusual and somewhat archaic monument: and it is meant to be, because it commemorates the Battle of Cedynia in 972, when the troops of Mieszko I defeated the troops of the Margrave of the Lusatian March, Hodon. The monument is to remind us that since the Middle Ages the Polish state has been based on the Oder River. Since the monument stands on Czcibor Mountain, there are also beautiful views of the surrounding area.

An unusual and popular tourist spot. First of all, there are wonderful views of the Oder River. There is also a large stone Table of Generations and an inscription "Deutschland, Deutschland über alles", once the first verse of the German national anthem. In addition, there is also a shelter where you can rest.

The heathland appears to be being maintained; today, many patches of land were visible, and trees and shrubs had been removed. Unfortunately, the wooden walkway was also missing without a trace. Hopefully, the path to the protective cover will remain a secret, as with increased visitor numbers, the path should be better paved to protect the natural environment. The view from the top, however, is phenomenal.

Generally, dogs are welcome on trails in the Gryfino area. However, within protected areas like the Cedynia Landscape Park or nature reserves, it's crucial to keep your dog on a leash to protect local wildlife and ensure a pleasant experience for everyone. Always check specific signage at trailheads for any local regulations.
Spring and autumn are particularly beautiful for family hikes, with pleasant temperatures and vibrant natural colors. Spring brings blooming flora, while autumn offers stunning foliage. Summer is also great, especially for trails near lakes or rivers where you can cool off. Winters can be charming with snow, but some trails might be muddy or icy, so appropriate gear is essential.
Parking availability varies by trailhead. For popular spots like the Crooked Forest or areas within the Cedynia Landscape Park, you can often find designated parking areas. It's advisable to check specific route descriptions or local maps for detailed parking information before your trip.
While many trails are natural paths through forests and fields, some sections, especially on easier, shorter routes, might be suitable for sturdy, all-terrain strollers. However, it's best to anticipate uneven surfaces, roots, or occasional muddy patches. For guaranteed smooth surfaces, look for paved or well-compacted gravel paths, which are less common on natural hiking trails.
While the trails themselves are often in natural, undeveloped areas, you can find cafes and restaurants in Gryfino town and some of the surrounding villages like Cedynia or Weltyn, especially near Lake Wełtyń. These spots are perfect for a post-hike meal or a refreshing break.
Generally, no special permits are required for hiking on marked trails within the landscape parks (Lower Oder Valley, Bukowa Forest, Cedynia Landscape Park). However, always respect local regulations, stay on designated paths, and avoid disturbing wildlife or plant life, especially in nature reserves like Kołowskie Parowy Nature Reserve (Kołowskie Parowy Nature Reserve).
