The Monument to the Exiled to Siberia, designed by the artist-sculptor Jarosław Perszko in close artistic cooperation with the engineer-architect Czesław Bielecki, was erected in Wrocław in Sybiraków Square (Skwer Sybiraków) on Strzelecki Square, in the area of operation of the parish of St. Boniface, whose pastor is Rev. Prelate Dr. Wojciech Tokarz. The monument was consecrated on September 20, 2000, on the 60th anniversary of the first deportation of Poles into the depths of the Soviet Union. The monument was funded by the efforts of the Exiled to Siberia from the Country, from Abroad, and numerous sponsors. The monument commemorates all the Exiled to Siberia, both those who died in the Inhuman Land and here in the Homeland, as well as those living, in thanksgiving to Providence for their return to the Homeland. It was created on the initiative of the President of the Association of the Exiled to Siberia Ryszard Reiff and the Resolution of the III Congress of the Association of the Exiled to Siberia, who survived deportations, penal colonies, prisons, and labor camps.
