Zrinski Mine Opened in the 16th Century _______________ In the 16th century, galena, which contained silver as an admixture, was found in the Ruadrski Vrt area. Soon after, mining began on Medvednica, and hardworking miners worked 10 to 12 hours a day – using hammers, wedges, picks and shovels. The Zrinski family stopped mining in the mid-17th century because they were not satisfied with the results – a ton of galena had to be mined for half a kilogram of silver. Until 2004, the mine was abandoned and inhabited by underground creatures – when it was finally restored.

Tigrovo jezero, or Tiger's Eye Lake, is a peaceful forest spot tucked beside Šumarev Grob on the trail between the Runolist and Puntijarka lodges. Named after the First Guards Brigade "Tigers" who restored it, the lake is a quiet place to rest, spot a few fish and even fill your bottle from the nearby fresh water spring a few metres away.

Hunjka (877 m) is an important pass on the Medvednica ridge, over which the road from Zagreb to Stubičke Toplice passes. Next to it is the new mountain hut "Mala Hunjka", built on the foundations of the old Rauch forester's lodge, and the large Craftsmen's Lodge (Zvonimirov Dom, formerly the "Janica" hotel). Hunjka is also known as a beautiful meadow with beautiful views of Zagorje and the Slovenian mountains.
