Sveti Lovreč is located in the immediate hinterland of Vrsar and Porec. - one of the best preserved medieval fortified cities in Istria. The settlement was named after the Church of St. Lawrence, which dates from the VIII century, and the Romanesque bell tower next to the church was added in the eleventh century, and is located near the settlement - in the local cemetery. Here you can marvel at an abandoned farm. Large parts of the houses are still preserved and it is a pleasure to fill the place with your own ideas as it was once.

Old part of the town dates back to the Venetian period when it was the seat of the military commander. If possible (open) climb up the (bell) tower and enjoy the view..

One of the best preserved medieval towns in Istria! Sveti Lovreč was mentioned in writing as early as 1030 as "Castrum sancti Laurenti". https://www.central-istria.com/de/odredista-destinations/sveti-lovrec/ A paradise for people who like old stones and stone houses. I also found the large lavender garden on the hill behind the tower particularly beautiful. I still have the scent in my nose today!
