The name Oregon Shakespeare Festival can be a bit confusing as it is a repertory theatre that stages hundreds of performances between May & December, not just a handful over a week or two. Opened in 1946 Omars has become an Ashland institution. Its iconic signage beckons you in and the friendly staff & cozy interior invite you to stay. The Japanese Garden has been a part of Lithia Park since it's opening in 1916. The original layout was designed by John McLaren, who is best known as the Superintendent of San Francisco's Golden Gare Park. However, the current layout, design by Toru Tanaka (former director of the Portland Japanese Garden), was opened in October of 2022 and is meant to be enjoyed in a counter-clockwise direction.
