Though it is not a roaring river, there is an unavoidable river crossing at this point on the trail. There are sometimes some downed logs laying across the water, but be careful as these logs can get quite slippery. On a warm day, a quick wade through the water actually feels refreshing!

Oak Creek Vista offers a wonderful viewing area of the canyon landscape, including Mitten Ridge and Midgley Bridge. This is a great picnic area regardless if this is the end, beginning, or midway point of your hike. If you are not one for crowds, simply take the trail downhill and enjoy some solitude next to the waters of Oak Creek.

There is a mandatory creek crossing at the very end of Huckaby Trail. Before riding the trail ask in a local bike shop if the river crossing is possible. In spring sometimes the water is to high.
