The village center of Schipluiden has four bridges over the Gaag. Two of these are suitable for cars: the Zouteveensebrug and the Kerkpolderbrug; the other two are exclusively for pedestrians: the paardenbrug and the hofbrug. The Zouteveensebrug, also known as the "Valbrug", connects the Dorpsstraat with the Keenenburgweg and Zouteveenseweg and was a well-known shortcut for traffic from Vlaardingen to Delft (and back). It is the only bridge in the municipality where a toll is still levied. In 1905, passage cost 5 cents and as many as 6000 boats used it. Shortly after the Second World War, the wooden drawbridge from 1862 was replaced by the current metal bridge. Source: https://cultuur.middendelfland.net/schipluiden/valbrug.htm

That's a road, not a car-free cycle path!

Nice bike path, but the view isn't necessarily great! It can get very busy on the bike path, so keep that in mind.
