A very pleasant pass to climb up the Puebla de la Sierra side. To do this, you have to access it from Robledillo, with very steep ramps to warm up, and a few kilometers on a narrow and bumpy road. The views and the route are totally worth it. Avoid weekends, especially busy hours, as motorcycles, and especially cars, can spoil the party a bit, as I say, the road is very narrow. There is a fountain at the lowest point between Robledillo and Puebla, and another one when leaving Puebla de la Sierra. They are the only two points where you will be able to fill your bottles "for free".

Many Spanish churches and chapels are dedicated to the Virgin Mary. This one in Bustarviejo bears the inscription "Purísima Concepción," meaning it is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, a special Marian feast. This term, which may sound somewhat theoretical and difficult to grasp today, expresses the idea that the Virgin Mary was, from the very beginning, freed by God's grace from the burden of original sin—which every human being otherwise carries. This enabled her to freely answer "yes" when the Archangel later announced to her in Nazareth that she would give birth to the Son of God. In 1854, Pope Pius IX declared this article of faith a dogma. The feast day commemorating this occasion—and also the patronal feast of this church—which in Catholic liturgy is officially called the "Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary," is celebrated annually on December 8th.

In the Middle Ages, the inhabitants of Bustarviejo had to pay a “toll” of half a bushel to use this pass to carry grain to be ground at the water mills in the Lozoya Valley. Hence the name of this pass. From the pass we can see the Carpetanos Mountains of Somosierra, part of the Lozoya Valley and the entire Sierra Norte of Madrid.
