Picturesque Cotswold village built around the church of St Andrew. There is a pretty village pond and a pub.

This is a fun ride up or down. Loose rocks means it’s teccy in the dry as well. It’s fine on a gravel bike, you don’t have to have a hardtail to enjoy this one.

Nov 2022. Scoured my route just to find this and comment on it. Attempted on a cx bike with 32mms. Conditions were wet and muddy - taking the trail from the east to west direction, steep descents after the farm house with lots of large rocks in the rutted path, can pick up a lot of speed so make sure tire choice and brakes are good. Jutted rocks and deep ruts causing pedal strikes are common in this whole section. middle section got very muddy and most of the path was not really rideable in this weather. I'm not really sure when it would be, some parts are fairly dangerous without a mountainbike and there are just too many rocks for your tires to take. The ruts are annoying narrow (width of a car tire) and up to a foot deep, so you're stuck in the trench so to speak. There are middle grass sections you can ride on but their width varies and sometimes you find yourself like riding a tightrope with two deep ruts on either side. Ended up walking most of it. Would avoid unless you are on MTB and love the technical sections, and even then, not sure if it'd be any better in the summer. A good lesson to check sections more carefully before adding to my touring routes.

Some of the ruts are too deep to navigate without pedal striking. The whole descent is a bit on the techy side for me. I'll be trying the bridleway on the other side next.

This works really well as a descent. There are some sections that were too technical for me so I walked but many would manage on their bike. Towards the end the ruts get really deep. I did this in the summer but post rain, and it gets very very muddy. Great fun though.
